GRADUATE PROGRAMMER

Unexpected Developments Ltd are currently looking for a graduate programmer to join our talented team in Nottingham. The ideal candidate would have a demonstrable interest and familiarity of games and their development techniques. As a small but focused team you will have the opportunity to quickly develop your skills and experience. At Unexpected we place a strong emphasis on personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Graduate Programmer, you will be mentored by our senior developers as you work on our projects. Your mentor will assist you in acquiring the necessary knowledge, so you can develop your programming skills to their full potential. Your mentor will also review your changes and advise you on changes until they are up to the high standards that we set for our work.

You will be expected to write clean, well-commented and re-usable code, adhering to the company’s high-quality programming standards and development process.

As you become more accomplished in your area of development, your mentor will lead you to becoming more involved in the product planning process. You will be expected to bring innovative ideas to enable the Unexpected Development to continually develop new solutions, be able to take on new projects and make a real difference to the team.

Required:

  • C# or C++ programming experience

  • A good degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, maths or another related subject

  • Ability to write clear and maintainable code and understand and build upon code written by others

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all disciplines

  • Attention to detail and a passion for the work.

  • A desire to constantly improve and develop new skills

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Must be eligible to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience with version control

  • Unreal or Unity experience

  • Evidence of personnel projects during time at University 

  • Understanding of agile development
